Out in the Silence is an award-winning documentary from Washington D.C.-based Joseph Wilson about the events that unfold after he puts an announcement of his wedding to his male partner, Dean Hamer, in the newspaper of his hometown, Oil City, Pennsylvania.
Out in the Silence explores the difficulties of growing up gay, in particular, and of being different, in general, in rural and small towns in the United States. It's a gem in the form of a documentary.
