Latvian Prime Minister supports registered partnership for same-sex couples.
Valdis Dombrovskis, current Prime Minister of Latvia, believes that same-sex couples should be able to register their relationships and property status.
Such view was expressed by the Latvian Prime Minister during the video chat with ‘Unity’ when a question on same-sex marriage was asked. At the same time prime Minister said that ‘Unity’ will not come out with proposals for same-sex marriage. “Marriage is a union between a man and a woman”, said Prime Minister. However, ‘Unity’ is prepared to discuss a possibility and support a proposal for legal regulations of civil status and property for same-sex couples.
‘Unity’ is a platform of three centre-right parties in Latvia which came together prior to parliamentary election in Latvia on 2 October 2010.
