To ειδύλλιο Obama-Warren

«Λοιπόν, πόσοι από εσάς φίλοι μου, νοιώσατε σαν να σας πέταξαν ξαφνικά από ένα λεωφορείο; - σηκώστε χέρια». Κάπως έτσι ξεκινάει ποστ σε ένα αμερικάνικο γκέι μπλογκ, για τον ειδύλλιο Obama-Warren.

Του πάστορα Rick Warren που ήταν ένας από τους ένθερμους υποστηρικτές της Proposition 8 η οποία απαγορεύει τον γάμο ομοφύλων, και που συν τοις άλλοις σε ομιλίες του είχε εξισώσει την ομοφυλοφιλία με την παιδεραστία και την αιμομιξία, και του εκλεγμένου Πρόεδρου που πολλοί λοαδ αμερικάνοι είχαν ποντάρει πολλά επάνω του για την υποστήριξη των δικαιωμάτων τους. Αυτόν ακριβώς επέλεξε ο εκλεγμένος Πρόεδρος Obama, για να κάνει την δέηση τον επόμενο μήνα όταν θα ορκιστεί ως Πρόεδρος των Ηνωμένων Πολιτειών.

Andrew Sullivan, Blogger/Writer, The Daily Dish: "[It's] shrewd politics, but if anyone is under any illusion that Obama is interested in advancing gay equality, they should probably sober up now. He won't be as bad as the Clintons (who, among leading Democrats, could?), but pandering to Christianists at his inauguration is a depressing omen. More evidence that a civil rights movement needs to realize that no politician can deliver for us what we have to deliver on our own."

Ann, Blogger/Writer @ Feministing.com: "Surely Obama could have found a non-bigoted religious leader to give the invocation. Warren, despite being considered a nicer-and-friendlier "new evangelical," equates same-sex marriage with incest, says Christians who work for social justice are basically Marxists, and is staunchly anti-choice. So many pro-choicers, gay activists, and progressive Christians worked their asses off to elect Obama, which makes Obama's decision to give Warren a platform at the inauguration a real fuck-you. I can't even handle the irony that Warren's appearance will be immediately followed by Aretha singing Respect and Someday We'll All Be Free.

Και ενώ συμβαίνουν όλα αυτά, η σημαία που βλέπετε δίπλα, κατασκευάστηκε ως σημαία διαμαρτυρίας για τον γάμο ομοφύλων στις Ηνωμένες Πολιτείες.

Τα δύο αστεράκια, είναι οι δύο πολιτείες των ΗΠΑ όπου επιτρέπεται ο γάμος ομοφύλων, Κονέκτικατ και Μασαχουσέτη.

Η ιδέα έρχεται από την εποχή που οι σουφραζέτες είχαν κατασκευάσει πριν από πολλές δεκαετίες αντίστοιχη σημαία, με τέσσερα αστέρια αρχικά, τις πολιτείες που τότε επιτρεπόταν στις γυναίκες να ψηφίζουν και σταδιακά τα αστέρια αύξαναν. (από το μπλογκ Queers United)
